SeeSaw, the online TV service that Arqiva acquired from the BBC, has been running a beta test for a week and making deals with content providers such as Channel 4, Five and independent producers. The deal with Channel 4 gets it "Peep Show," "The Inbetweeners," "Skins" and "Grand Designs." A multi-year deal with Five includes "The Gadget Show," "Neighbours" and "Home and Away." It also includes Five on Demand, Five’s catch-up service.
In addition, it’s getting content from independent producers that first appeared on ITV.
SeeSaw will also offer football programming related to the World Cup in South Africa but not any of the games themselves.
It already had a multi-year deal with BBC Worldwide for BBC shows.
The company said it has about 3,000 hours of content.
The service is expected to launch in "the coming weeks," probably March. The beta test is by invitation only and reported to be "full."
John Keeling, platform controller for SeeSaw, said the service’s amount and quality of content "instantly establishes SeeSaw’s position as a very significant player in the online TV marketplace." |
