It looks like the best job opportunities are in smartphones, not plastics as Dustin Hoffman was advised in "The Graduate."
A $995 report from Portio Research called "Smartphone Futures 2010-2014" says that despite the recession, smartphone sales increased in 2008-2009. During the same period, worldwide handset shipments declined.
Most of the growth in smartphone sales was in North America and Europe.
They now account for 13.8% of total worldwide handset shipments during 2009 and are predicted to be 24.9% by the end of 2014. In the 2009- 2014 period, they’ll increase at a CAGR of 18.5%. The total worldwide handset market will only grow 5.3% during the period. |
