In the US, National Public Radio has a much beloved radio show named "This American Life," whose new iPhone app will stream every single episode of the show on-demand. The show, which has a long run in the number one spot on iTunes’ podcast chart, can be streamed for no additional charge — the app is $2.99 — or episodes can be downloaded for 99 cents apiece. The app has a solid navigation and search for digging through its big catalog. The app also provides summaries, preview clips and buying options for both seasons of the "This American Life" TV show. It’s an all-inclusive platform for the show’s audience and basically a $3 back catalog that can easily replace a collection of podcasts that many have. The cloud is allowing local storage space to become negligible for lots of content libraries, and apps are going to further that trend. |
