Peter,

You are entirely correct in that Endavo is licensed to deliver the overall OTT platform. PHXX's role is central to the actual managed OTT Telecom component of the service whereby we all appreciate Endavo's leadership role as well as role as licensing content aggregator, licensing DRM, and and the CDN services.

We are all excited as Etisalat's service roll out into the broader region and generates a truly valuable service for the end-users!

Does anyone know if this works? Are there any televisions that function with this technology. Does the tech work and does it relly work in the field or just at CES?

well Cos subscribers can't watch all channels on their iPad. They can watch 35 channels on their iPad within the confines of their own house if they meet all the requirements set down by Cox in order to use the service. Which is amazing, they have the most requirements of any provider in the industry to use their streaming service. Working at DISH I watched all these apps come out from across the industry, and I was a little shocked when they all had the same limitation. Limited channels and limited stream, two very big road blocks when it comes to streaming to a mobile device. Of course they envision merging it with their mobile app, but that could be years before they let it out of the house. I am impatient, so I think I will keep using my sling adapter hooked up to my DISH receiver, it allows me to stream all my live channels and recorded shows to my mobile device no matter where I am giving me a true TV everywhere experience.

re: PHXX Aims at Telcos Wanting to Add OTT to Their Pay TV

This article is not an entirely accurate description of PHXX's role with Etisalat. PHXX has contracted with Endavo to deliver certain components of the overall platform for Etisalat and their partner telcos as stated in “Endavo Media Offers Complete OTT Video Services Solution for Global Operators” http://tinyurl.com/73p4azd.

Endavo Media is the platform for Etisalat's OTT services - http://tinyurl.com/6mrq8z5 ; http://tinyurl.com/82k37eq

All Google stuff is half baked, never finished when it puts it out on the market. For instance, if you were a developer of Android apps, you would see that even the apis that developers use are poorly written, half-baked, terrible code. But they still have a huge hit. They had many hits with their beta products like GMail and Google Docs. It is in their business model, and anyone who would think that they would change the way they work, especially for how much money they have, they won't.

Funny thing, I have a Logitech Google TV and it was connected for a long time, but I never used it because it didn't give me anything new. Maybe a few video websites to watch videos that I couldn't get elsewhere. But with Amazon Prime streaming, I have renewed my want to use Google TV so that I can stream Amazon Prime through the Logitech. I don't have any other devices to stream Amazon, and I don't want to hook up my computer to my TV. Although when iOS 5 comes out with mirroring airplay, then maybe I won't need the Google TV anymore again.

I enjoyed the article, by the way, and don't really disagree with what you wrote.
